The Giant of Provence - Mont Ventoux - dominates the village with its famous white limestone cap rising 1912m. The village is backed by woodlands (reknowned for its Truffle grounds) Olive groves, Vineyards and Cherry Orchards. Resting at the southern foot of Mount Ventoux is the delightful unspoilt medieval village of Villes sur Auzon which is an ideal base for exploring the very best of Provence and all it has to offer, from the hilltop villages of Gordes, Menerbes and Bonnieux (to name just a few) which are just a short car ride away (Gordes 20 mins). The Gorge de la Nesque is just to the left of village, and the views are quite breathtaking, ideal for cycling and hiking or just to take a leisurely drive and take in the atmosphere of quite magnificent proportions.
The village also has plenty to offer, there are three bakers, a butchers, greengrocers which also sell basic supplies, tobacconist, hairdressers and a post office. There are six main restaurants, P'tits Bonheurs, La Nesque and Don Camillo to name just a few there is also a small restaurant in the Verguettes camping site that offers good value for money, and if your feeling a little more extravagant there is always the Ferme de Pezet which is on the outskirts of the village.
The village also has its own Cave - La Montagne that sells really good and inexpensive local wines from the Cotes de Ventoux. There are two campsites with swimming pools and tennis courts and they are open to the public. During July and August there are many events held in the village square, for example Bastille Day this is celebrated over a three day period, with fairs open-air dancing and of course plenty of wine for all!
